I was struggling to get my Level 1 certificate from the Australasian Hydrographic Surveyors Certification Panel (AHSCP) as I did not have the mandatory theoretical study in the Hydrographic survey. Skilltrade was the perfect solution for this matter with the opportunity for far- distance learning, almost all courses are supported with a rich Self-Study and online classrooms. All the well-presented lectures were recorded and were available for us to watch and download later. I was able to study and follow up while still managing my busy work schedule and frequent offshore travelling.

“Even though I already had some experience in bathymetric survey and an offshore engineering background, the Skilltrade cat B course really helped me understand the theoretical concepts behind geodesy, positioning, underwater acoustic and sensors. Not to mention the good practices I learnt for mobilization, calibration as well as Quality Assurance and Control with the Field Training Project. Thanks to the course I now feel comfortable with managing challenging multibeam surveys and I have realized my troubleshooting skills on the field are improved. Last but not least, the staff and teachers are excellent and the organization of the training, both online and on-site is beyond reproach. I will keep from this experience a lot of great memories.

"I really like that there were videos to picture and describe the equipment, installation and process and it covered basics, but I feel there could be a little more detail in how the equipment relates to each other, different configurations or combinations of equipment, or more examples of acquiring data from the different instruments."
