This module provides a strong foundation in GNSS and positioning systems used in hydrographic surveying. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the principles of GNSS, DGPS, and RTK systems, including signal measurement, timing, error sources, and quality assurance. The course also introduces essential geodetic concepts such as ellipsoids, geoids, and vertical datums, and explains how positioning data supports accurate hydrographic and land survey operations. Overview of global positioning systems (USA, Russia, Europe, China)
Understanding positioning accuracy: error sources and data quality
GNSS augmentation methods: DGPS, SBAS (WAAS, EGNOS), RTK, and PPP
